Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3)

Welcome to the PT3 Project Website

The PT3 project at Florida International University is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's PT3 Office (Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology). PT3 grants support innovative program improvements to prepare technology-proficient educators for 21st century schools. FIU's College of Education received initial funding to support this three-year Implementation Grant in July 2001.

The overall mission of the PT3 project at Florida International University is to implement innovative strategies for infusing technology into and improving the teacher preparation program. Developing future teachers who know how to use technology to improve teaching and learning is a major challenge in teacher education today.

The PT3 project is a collaborative effort between Florida International University and the Miami-Dade County School System (M-DCPS), the fourth largest school district in the United States. Together with many other stakeholders, the partners are working to develop and integrate technology as a tool for learning throughout the South Florida education system.
